One city I’ve been wanting to visit for a quick Day of Dining is Towanda, KS. There are two places that have been on my list and I finally found some time to check one of them off my outer Wichita area bucket list. I hopped on 254 and made my way towards Towanda to visit HeBrews Cafe and Coffeehouse.

HeBrews Cafe and Coffeehouse’s serves breakfast along with diner-style food for lunch and dinner such as burgers, BBQ, chicken fried steak and chicken, along with sandwiches. There’s also a selection of specialty drinks and desserts.

One of the biggest eye-catchers are their cinnamon rolls that are the size of a plate, if not bigger. They were bigger than my hand and felt like little weights. One of the best parts? They are only $3.19.

I picked up a couple to go because I knew some of the kids would love them. I’m excited to see their eyes when I bring them home, so we can all dig in together.

During my visit, I wanted to get some breakfast which is served all day. I went with the one egg breakfast which came with two meats and choice of sides. After looking at the options, I went with bacon and ham for my meats. For my sides, I substituted biscuits and sausage gravy.

As far as simple breakfasts go, HeBrews did a fantastic job and nailed every part of it. The biscuits were fluffy and only made better by the sausage gravy. For me, sausage in the gravy is a must. To have that as an option, made my taste buds happy. My eggs were prepared just as ordered. My ham even had a wonderful smoky aroma and flavor to it that kept me coming back for more. Overall, it was a great simple breakfast that left me walking out of the door with a smile.

HeBrews Cafe and Coffeehouse had a small-town diner feel which was apparent by the helpful wonderful staff that was friendly and engaging with every single customer who walked in the doors. It’s places like this that make these small-town visits so much fun.

Here’s the menu:

Happy Dining,
Eddy
