What to expect at Frost: A College Hill bake house & creamery

A new dessert shop has opened in the former Cero’s Candy space at 3429 E. Douglas Ave in College Hill. A big draw for the new bake house and creamery as they call it is their treats including ice cream are made from scratch. Everything is all-natural.

We were in the area over the weekend and decided to make a real quick stop just to check it out and give you all an idea of what to expect.

They did a great job of cleaning and sprucing up the place. Seating was available for roughly 12 people inside.

There was an open layout with counter service available.

During the opening weekend they had the following desserts available: spiced apple pie, chocolate cake, carrot cake, chocolate chip cookies, cherry almond oatmeal cookies, peanut butter cookies, and a peanut butter chocolate pretzel tart.

The ice cream flavors included vanilla, chocolate, cookies ā€˜n’ cream, sour cream & cinnamon, ginger, peanut butter, biscoff, almond crunch, spiced chai, peppermint stick, caramel swirl, mango sorbet.

I had spent the last 24 hours dining like crazy so there wasn’t much room to be had but I still wanted to get a little taste of Frost. I went with a double scoop of ice cream (sour cream & cinnamon and peppermint stick) in a cup.

There was definitely some hesitation when I heard sour cream and cinnamon. When I took the first bite, I was impressed immediately. It was smooth, creamy, and not too incredibly rich which is just how I like it. Both ice creams were fantastic. My favorite might have been the peppermint stick; there was a vibrant, cool blast with each bite. Peppermint is not really my first choice for dessert but this was a big surprise for me.

The big selling factor for me was how fresh the ice cream tasted. There was a noticeable difference that I think others will notice and enjoy as well.

It was a short, brief visit to Frost but one definitely worthwhile and a good teaser for us to return next time we’re in College Hill for pies and cookies.
