While craving some Cajun food, I wanted to revisit a downtown restaurant that has a small selection of delicious Cajun options. Todd Brian’s Brick Street Cafe & Tavern is a little restaurant located right by the downtown Warren. It’s a place I haven’t been to in over a year and figured why not stop by again and give them a little love.

Todd Brian’s serves American and Cajun food on the menu. I have yet to try anything other than their Cajun options though. On my last visit, I went with their jambalaya. This time I ordered the Classic Louisiana Gumbo which included shrimp, catfish, crab, chicken, and Andouille. We also ordered their Todd’s Grilled Salad which came with salmon.
But before that, we were given complimentary rolls. They weren’t your typical rolls. One was sweet and the other was savory. I forgot what they told us it was stuffed with but I believe they said pecans with the other being jalapeƱo cornbread. Regardless, my daughter fell in love with them. She ate them up quickly barely sharing with any of us peasants a.k.a. parents. The small bites we had was enough for us to place an order for additional rolls.
The gumbo was excellent and possibly the best I’ve ever had in Wichita. It had an amazing flavor profile with so many proteins blended together with Cajun spices. I wanted nothing else but to pick the bowl up and lick it dry. But with my daughter looking on, I wanted to teach her proper restaurant etiquette.
I was told the salad was a nice heaping portion but other than that, there wasn’t much to it to make it a memorable one. Granted, we aren’t the type to go around town ordering salads everywhere so what we think may not be of much relevance to those who are huge salad eaters. On the bright side, the salmon was fresh and well-seasoned.
Our server did an excellent job all evening. It was a slow evening when we dropped by and everybody there did a great job of taking care of not just our table but the few other diners in. It was a total team effort.
I’m 2 for 2 on my Cajun dining at Todd Brian’s and may have to go back to see if I can complete their entire Cajun menu.
Here’s the menu:
Happy Dining,
Eddy
