National Sandwich Day is celebrated on November 3 each year. It’s a day to celebrate here in America where more than 300 million sandwiches are eaten every day.
Legend has it, the sandwich as its called today was popularized in 1762 by John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich. During a particularly long gambling binge at the card able, Montagu asked the house cook to bring him something he could eat without getting up from his seat, and the sandwich was born. Montagu enjoyed his meat and bread so much that he ate it constantly, and as the concoction grew popular in London society circles it also took on the Earl’s name.
While the sandwich typically consists of vegetables, sliced cheese or meat, placed on or between slices of bread, there are many styles of sandwiches especially here in Wichita.
If you’re wanting to celebrate National Sandwich Day, I have plenty of suggestions for you from not just myself but many readers out there. There was A LOT OF INPUT to bring this entire blog together. So here it is, 101 sandwiches worth trying. It was 100 but I added an extra one for part laughs/part seriousness. Let me know if you can spot it.

I like the Bulldozer a lot better at When Pigs Fly. Brisket is okay, but add smoked turkey and a hot link and it’s 3 times as good!
