Sharon’s Place Hawaiian Food in Derby, KS Revisited

My daughter and I were passing through Derby on a little road trip and thought we’d stop by one of our favorite little restaurants in the area, Sharon’s Place. It’s a Hawaiian restaurant located off K-15 that’s been serving Hawaiian food for roughly four years.

They’ve had a special available that sounded delicious. It was called their Sharon’s Hawaiian Style Hamburger which included a homemade Hawaiian bun, house made teriyaki infused hamburger topped with grilled pineapple served with lettuce, sweet onion & sriracha mayo and an optional fried egg. When I see fried egg as an optional add-on, it’s a no-brainer for me.

My daughter and I split the burger along with a side of rice and macaroni salad which in Dad Food Blogger translates to dad ordered the burger and daughter ordered the rice and macaroni salad.

I’m not quite sure the pictures do the size of the burger justice. It was large, hefty and thick. The homemade bun was like one of those sweet rolls found at the grocery just bigger and better. The teriyaki flavor really stood out and was really delicious. I love pineapple and it really added a sweet and fruitiness to the savory meal. It gave a vibrant tangy kick with each bite. Of course, adding the fried egg was one of the best decisions I made.

My daughter put in good work on the macaroni salad and rice. By good work, I mean some in her mouth, some on her clothes, some on the ground and some I’m still looking for.

Once again it was another big winner of a lunch for us at Sharon’s Place. This was my daughter’s first revisited review. Last time, she was in her carrier and this time she was happily walking around like she owned the place….. essentially like everywhere she goes.

As for the staff there, they are absolutely wonderful. If you ever get the chance to go up there, it’s so worth it. Sharon’s Place is one of those beautiful combinations of excellent food with excellent people.

Here’s their menu:

Happy Dining,
Eddy

  1. We love eating there. Our favorite is the teriyaki beef. Get some teriyaki sauce on rice and your belly will be thanking you. Highly recommend the place. The people are great also.

  2. Our favorite in Derby, the people that run it are great too! Be sure to have a piece of the Chocolate Haupia PIe next time you are there!
