Ever since they opened their brick and mortar location at 803 N. West St. at the end of 2019, Tacos TJ 664 has continued to gain popularity over the months. The popular eatery that serves Tijuana-style tacos even won the Most Liked Tacos tournament held here. When I spoke with them a while back about the size of their location, they said they were either looking to open another location or perhaps find a bigger building.
That moment is almost here. They have spent the last half of 2020 prepping for their move a couple of blocks north to 1014 N. West Street in the former Copas Loka’s Sports & Cantina space. The larger building will allow them to triple their capacity and give them a patio. The bigger building also means a bigger kitchen for an expanded menu.
When I last spoke to the owners, they were originally aiming for an opening in the third week of January but like most openings some things contributed to it being pushed back. They are now good to go and have set their soft opening date for Monday, February 1. Starting Monday, their hours will be Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
After that, they will retain their 803 N. West Street location and open up Birria TJ 664 that specializes in all things birria. They hope to be ready with their second restaurant concept in late February/early March.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
