I was wanting some Chinese food but didn’t want the norm of similar quick service Chinese restaurants in town. While browsing the trusty food directory, I came across a restaurant I haven’t been to in probably a decade. It was China Inn, the casual sit down restaurant that’s been in town for over twenty years.

I knew my dinner was going to start with hot & sour soup as I’ve been craving it for weeks. I quickly received a bowl that was delicious and a little more on the sour side.
While browsing through the many pages of dishes, the Sizzling Plate section grabbed my attention. I saw a dish called Sizzling Rice Seafood Delight which included jumbo shrimp, crab meat, and scallop sauteed with assorted Chinese vegetables.
It came out looking like a sizzling plate of fajitas.
At first glance, I think the description was a little backwards. It should have been called Sizzling Vegetable Delight which included some shrimp, crab meat and scallops. The dish was nearly all vegetables and their definition of jumbo shrimp was a little off. Just calling it shrimp would have been better.
The dish came with some fried rice that was no frills yet amazing. There was a nice smokiness to it that really tickled my taste buds.
While there wasn’t much to be had in terms of seafood, the dish was still quite delicious. I’m not sure what sauce that the vegetables and seafood was sitting in but it was excellent. It really elevated the entire meal and took the meal to FlavorTown so to speak. It was a little sweet and a little savory but 100% tasty. There was probably a handful of shrimp in the dish, some crab and two scallops. I saved the scallops for last and ended the meal on a good note.
All things considered, I was a fan of the food. Two ladies were working the floor that evening and did a great job handling most of the tables. I observed them work and they were very friendly and engaging with everyone.
I don’t make it to China Inn often probably because there are some other Chinese restaurants I prefer in town but it’s still worth a stop. Next time, I may have to bring my family to check out some more dishes and get a better idea of what else they can do.
Here’s their menu:
Happy Dining,

oh man, this just makes me miss Hong Kong Cafe so much…
One of my two favorite Chinese places in town, the other being the now gone Hong Kong whose sweet and sour was a very close resemblance to my All Time favorite Chinese/Cantonese place ALBERTS. China Inn is the only one left in town that even comes close. My favorite is the #2 combo with fried rice. And the appetizer of puffy shrimp or crab rangoon…outstanding! Yes, the staff is exceptional as well.
