Leo’s Taqueria & Catering Revisited

When it comes to Mexican food, I have a regular rotation of restaurants and food trucks I try to visit. One of my favorites around town is Leo’s Taqueria and Catering. It’s a yellow truck often parked out at the southwest corner of Pawnee and Seneca in the parking lot of Westway Shopping Center.

Leo’s Taqueria serves tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas and tostadas. They do a little of everything and they did it quickly, efficiently and deliciously. Their taco protein options covers the wide gamut to include pork, BBQ, chicken, steak, beef head, tongue, shrimp, fish and on some days birria.

On my most recent visit, we ordered al pastor and birria tacos along with the necessary cup of consume. An order of tostada de ceviche simply because it’s awesome.

In what felt like minutes, I was handed a bag full of food and my way home. The pork and birria were incredibly flavorful and stuffed in two tortillas to keep in all intact. Leo’s makes one of the top 10 tacos in Wichita.

But what he doesn’t get credit for is the tostada. His tostada de ceviche just might be the best in town. You don’t find tostadas often at food trucks but Leo’s does it well in his cramped space. The tostada is packed with a mountain of ceviche that’s vibrant in flavor and full of an acidic pop that I love. It’s of great quality that leaves me wanting more.

On top of amazing food, the staff there is fantastic and generous. During the height of the pandemic and restaurant shutdowns, the owner was out there giving free food to people.  I have mad respect for quality people that can also dish out some quality food.

Visit Leo’s Taqueria, it’s one of the best in town. Oh yeah, their catering is amazing as well.
