One of Wichita’s longest running Vietnamese restaurants has come to a close… kind of.
At the start of 2020, new owners took over Pho Hien and slowly made new additions to the menu. But now, the restaurant located at 1750 N Broadway is in for the most significant change yet.
I spoke to the owner and Pho Hien is now closed for remodeling and rebranding. Once the restaurant reopens, it will be called Pho H&M Restaurant which are the initials of the owners Huy and Minh Huynh. Part of the reason for the name change was because the original name was hard to pronounce and remember.
The new Pho H&M Restaurant will have an expanded menu to include many seafood dishes, lo mein, and more. The inside will also have a brand new modernized look. A new chef from California was also hired to help with the revamped menu.
Their new sign is now displayed up front.
As of now, Pho H&M Restaurant is planning for a March opening. It’ll be interesting to see whether recipes from Pho Hien are kept or if the new chef will do something different. Pho Hien has long been regarded as one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in town and I’m intrigued for what’s in store.
I’ll keep you posted when I find out more.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
