15 burritos in Wichita to try for National Burrito Day

It’s National Burrito Day. Who’s ready to celebrate? I’ve already started receiving questions on where to get some burritos around Wichita, so I anticipated the holiday by throwing together some of my favorite burritos around town.

Wichita is lucky to have tons of local options around town. I’ve lost count of how many burritos I’ve eaten in my visits to the hundreds and hundreds of places that this city has to offer. I read through many old blogs, scoured through thousands of pictures I refuse to delete in my phone and put this guide together of 15 of some of my favorite burritos around town.

So if you’re on the hunt for some burritos today, here are suggestions on some of my picks for best burritos in Wichita. As always, these lists are completely curated by yours truly. Don’t be fooled by lists whipped up with other people’s Yelp feedback and pictures taken from somewhere else. What you see below are my pictures and experiences. Enjoy.

Tacos El Sol – Food truck parked out at 31st and Meridian
Their green chile burrito is probably my favorite burrito of them all.

Tacos El Sol

Road Runner Mexican Fast Food – 5255 N Maize Rd #110, Maize, KS 67101
The new restaurant in Maize also has a food truck up north. I highly recommend the Maize Burrito.

Lina’s Mexican Restaurant – 3570 N Woodlawn St., Wichita, KS 67220
One of my favorite breakfast burritos in town was from Lina’s.

El Gordo – 11333 E. Central Ave, Wichita, KS 67206
Sometimes all you need is a good Colorado burrito.

Puerto Vallarta Mexican Restaurant – 602 N Tyler Road, Wichita, KS 67212
A Mexican seafood burrito covered in a crab cream sauce. I don’t need to say anything else.

Puerto Vallarta

Los Mexican Burritos – 3005 E Pawnee St., Wichita, KS 67211
With burritos in the name, you’re going to get a cheap burrito that will fill you up for days.

Rene’s Mexican Fast Food – 677 N Eisenhower St., Wichita, KS 67212
Pro-Tip: If you’re out west drinking, Rene’s is a fantastic night cap.

Alejandro’s Mexican Food – 1212 S Rock Rd, Wichita, KS 67207
And the east side version of Rene’s is Alejandro’s out on south Rock Road.

El Taquero Mexican Restaurant – 1451 N Broadway St., Wichita, KS 67214
If you love trying something new, El Taquero just opened up last month and has a burrito called the Taquero Special that’s packed with everything.

Kiko’s Mexican Fast Food – 2800 E Central Ave, Wichita, KS 67214
A two pound burrito filled with tons of carne asada? Slide thru!

Lalo’s Express – 2051 S Seneca St., Wichita, KS 67213
For late night cravings, Lalos is one of your best bets for burritos.

Dappery Dodo Breakfast Burritos – Food truck parked out at Douglas and Washington
If you’re trying to have something different, Dappery Dodo puts out some remarkable inventive creations.

Tacos Alex (aka Mr. Taco) – 711 W 25th St. N, Wichita, KS 67204
Well known for their tacos, you do not want to miss out on their burritos as well.

Mr. Taco

Crafted – 9730 E 21st St. N, Wichita, KS 67206
Ummmm…. how can I leave hot a Hot Cheetos Sushi Burrito?

Bento Café – 550 N Ridge Rd, Wichita, KS 67212
Speaking of sushi burritos, the best one on the west side of town is found at Bento Café.

After publishing this article, there were two I left out that are also worth checking out. Tacos TJ 664 and Juarez Bakery. Tacos TJ 664 as many of you know has some bomb shrimp tacos that also work great in burrito form. As for Juarez Bakery, their breakfast burritos are the best value in the city at under $3.

Happy Dining,

  1. No love for the “super” burrito loco at Pollo Express? I watched 3 friends who were all big guys try and fail to finish one. (I was trying one of each taco so I’ll take my shot at it later).

  2. Richard Mean Forsythe

You left one out that’s Connies on 21st North Broadway but I see they’re over looked each and every time when it comes to places to go for fine food. Run by the Sisters from the family.
