Some members of The Neighborhood joined me at Chisholm’s American Beef & Ale House to check out their prime rib special which takes place Monday through Wednesday for dinner. Chisholm’s is located inside the DoubleTree by Hilton Wichita Hotel where Legend’s used to be. Everybody who joined me were big fans of prime rib and were excited to check it out to see how it stacked up to the competition in town.

The prime rib was $28 and is only available three days of the week. It came with two sides, Brussels sprouts and a baked potato. The 12 ounce prime rib was slow-roasted served with au jus and creamy horseradish.
The cut I received was a little more on the fatty side to say the least. As you can tell below, I ordered mine rare as did most of the group.
My first bite in was decent. It was missing something. There wasn’t much to the prime rib; no smokiness, no seasoning. It fell a little flat and missing that rich flavor. I put on some au jus and that was overly salty. The creamy horseradish helped a bit. The prime rib certainly wasn’t as tender as I’ve had at some other places.
On the bright side, nearly everyone loved the brussels sprouts including me. The addition of bacon was a nice touch. The baked potato wans’t half bad either.
Unfortunately, the prime rib didn’t meet the expectation for essentially all of us in attendance. If we were ranking prime rib, this would be towards the bottom of the list.
One thing to note though was our server was phenomenal throughout the evening. Our drinks were always filled, she was engaging and making sure everyone was taken care of. She did a great job and was the biggest bright spot of our dinner.
Here’s their menu.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
