They originally started out as a food truck but would soon move up and into a brick & mortar location. Ray’s Food Express took over the space recently held by Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies.

A buddy and I recently stopped by the restaurant to check out their new space. We ordered our food to go and they were quick. There was a good-sized staff inside just churning out to go orders left and right.
The restaurant’s menu is slightly similar to their food truck. They had catfish, chicken wings and tenders, bratwursts and links, and a wide selection of BBQ.
We ended up going catfish, ribs, and a link. They were out of quite a few sides by the end of the day, so our choices were essentially limited to potato salad and mac & cheese.
My buddy best described their food as good old, simple, no frills BBQ. We don’t necessarily think any item blew our minds but we enjoyed our food. It was simple, it met our expectations and we finished everything very satisfied.
The catfish was decently seasoned and had a nice crispy breading on it. It was much better than I recall it being from the food truck. I was told the ribs were good. He didn’t get into specifics but noted he liked the smoky flavor to it. He’s the type of guy who likes to BBQ himself quite often but sometimes said it’s nice to get out and have someone else do it for you. The convenience of Ray’s and living nearby was a nice touch for him.
