First Look at Sojourner’s Coffee House

In March 2021, a coffee shop took over the former Ecclesia Coffee shop space at 7130 W. Maple. Sojourner’s Coffee House is new non-profit owned by Larry and Ashley King who started it as a place for the community but specifically a place for active duty military, veterans, and their families. Larry is a veteran of the United States Air Force and integrating a military mindset with civilian and family life can be challenging. This is a road they have been down and want to help others in similar situations.

Call it coffee with a purpose; something unique in town that aims to help others.

Sojourner’s Coffee House will host guided groups and events specifically for military veterans and families to help integrate and navigate military life with civilian life.

They also have a goal to provide financial support to Passageways by donating profits to them monthly.

I stopped by Sojourner’s Coffee House to get a look inside at their space and give readers an idea of what to expect.

While I’m not a coffee drinker, I still wanted to stop by, show a bit of support and help get the word on this locally owned business out to the public.

My order consisted of a blueberry muffin, a Dulce de Leche scone and a specialty drink on hand called The Nina which was salted caramel, cold brew and almond milk. While I’m not in the business of reviewing coffee with such little knowledge I have of it, I can attest that the muffin and scone were excellent. The muffin had big chunks of  blueberry which gave it tons of pop in each bite. I loved it and considered going back to buy the rest of them.

If you’re all about fantastic causes and a place to grab a cup of Joe, definitely consider this one.

Here’s their menu.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
