One restaurant I haven’t stopped by yet in 2021 was Gabby’s Peruvian Restaurant. It’s one of my favorite places in town. I’ve been getting so caught up in the past couple months trying to visit different places across Kansas that I was starting to miss some Peruvian food. I changed it up on this visit and brought my family for dine-in as they’ve never been inside the restaurant before.

There’s plenty of seating inside Gabby’s. They placed us in the back room so we had plenty of room to ourselves. So much room that my daughter was able to walk around and not be confined just to a high chair. She snacked on some fries throughout the evening, but the adults wanted something other than that.
I went with the Pasta Marina which was fettuccine with shrimp, calamari, squid and mussels topped with a Peruvian aji Amarillo Alfredo sauce. I don’t believe I’ve ever had a pasta dish that tasted like this before but the first word that came out of my mouth was, “Ridiculous”. It was ridiculously delicious and had so much going on between the noodles, shrimp, calamari, squid and mussels. I was in seafood heaven.
When I heard alfredo, I was expecting some sort of white sauce but was pleasantly surprised when I received something else that I haven’t had before. The sauce was a bit tangy which was a very good compliment to the seafood.
Megan originally ordered the Seco de Carne but they were out of beef since we came later in the evening. She ended up going with chicken instead of beef which was still a great alternative. It was a stew with cilantro, spinach, green peas, garlic, and carrots. She loved every bite of it.
Once again, I was impressed with Gabby’s food. It wasn’t a shock to me at all because every time I’ve gone even back to when she had her original location in Delano, I’ve loved it.
In my opinion, it’s one of Wichita’s Top 50 restaurants in town. It’s unique, friendly, delicious and every other good word you could come up with. Check them out!
