It’s time to kick off the shaved ice season with some snow cones and some Christmas spirit. After opening in 2020, I finally made it out to Candy Cones in Haysville, KS. Here’s a look at what to expect with the creative festive snow cone spot.

On top of the numerous yard games and tables set outside, the actual snow cone stand was designed like a gingerbread house which continued to fit in the Christmas theme.

There were also three sizes to choose from, small for $3, medium for $4 and large for $5 which was in line with many other snow cone/shaved ice places in the Wichita area. There were also different preset creations to choose from that were stuffed with plenty of goodies.

I saw a picture of their apple pie cone online and it immediately caught my attention. This was their medium-sized cone that nearly required me to hold it with two hands. The shape was reminiscent of a Christmas tree.

The cup was filled with ice cream and then topped with snow melt and whipped cream, cinnamon, more whipped cream and then a small graham cracker to top it like the star of a tree. It was delicious and surprisingly similar to an apple pie. I loved the mix of different textures in my cup from the snow melt to the whipped cream to the ice cream. Sometimes, you don’t want just shaved ice. The added ingredients was a nice touch to elevate the cone.

I also loved the whole theme of Candy Cones. Who doesn’t love some Christmas spirit? Go get yourself some holiday cheer in the shape of a snow cone.
