One Mexican restaurant that gets really busy over lunch time at both of their locations is El Rancho Restaurant. While their 2801 N. Broadway locale is probably the busier of the two, I wanted to give some love to their southside spot at 1601 E. Pawnee.

I was feeling something a little different on the visit and went with the Chicharron dish which was a pork skin stew that came with tortillas. Just in case I was still hungry, I ordered a gordita with Guisado Verde (green pork).
Pork skin may be a turn off to some because of the gooey texture of them, but the flavor is out of this world. If you can get over the somewhat chewy and rubbery feel of it, there’s a flavorful tartness to it that’s really delicious with. There isn’t much heat to the dish at all. I was also a big fan of the gordita. I love Guisado Verde and El Rancho has some of the best in town.
I’m not sure what else needs to be said. El Rancho puts out some good food and with two locations in town, you can check them out on either side of town.
Here’s their menu:
Happy Dining,
