First Look at Chucherias Y Mas

A few months ago, a new Mexican food truck quietly opened at the corner 28th & Broadway called Chucherias Y Mas. Thanks to one of our readers named Juan, we were given a heads up on where and when they opened. This was moved to the top of our list to try with it being a completely new eatery.

Their menu features many traditional favorites like tacos, gorditas, burritos, elote quesadillas and tortas. There was so much to choose from.

I eventually opted for a couple buche tacos, a gordita with chicharron and papas con ceviche. They gave me a number and we waited in our car for the order. It didn’t take long at all.

The gordita and tacos were fantastic. It was the best buche tacos I can recall having in the longest time. I loved the texture and flavor of them. The tortillas were grilled a bit to give it a good sturdy foundation to keep it from falling apart. I’m a firm believer that chicharron is one of the most underrated options to put inside a taco or gordita. If you stop by here, splurge a couple of extra dollars and get one.

When I opened my ceviche dish, I noticed it was the wrong one, but kept to myself and was preparing to eat it. Next thing I knew, someone from the truck came over and apologized that it was the wrong item and let me know they were getting the right one ready.

For what it’s worth, the tostada de ceviche was also excellent. Megan noted how fresh and zesty the meal.

Soon after, the papas con ceviche came out. It was basically a large, heaping portion of ceviche for probably 10 people on a big pile of flaming hot Doritos to give it an extra kick. I finished maybe a quarter of it before needing help. It was so much food and so delicious….. all for just $8.99. Seriously an incredible value that would be a great plate to share with others.

They even gave me a complimentary pineapple drink was the problems even though none of it bothered me at all.

The trip didn’t end there, I made sure to pick up a few al pastor tacos to bring to share.

If you love new and all about trying the assortment of trucks around town, Chucherias Y Mas is definitely worth a go.
