At the end of 2020, Sorrel’s Jamaican Food closed their location near Intrust Bank Arena. It was a tough year for them and essentially every restaurant during the pandemic. One of their last comments was coming up with a plan of action to return in 2021.
On Wednesday, they made a post on their Facebook page asking for Jamaica vacation photos people may want to share in their restaurant. The post led to much speculation about a possible return for the restaurant.
I was able to reach out to owner Christine Rhoden who did confirm that Sorrel’s Jamaican Food is returning. At the moment, the location and timeframe is being kept a secret. They have lots of work to do to get ready but wanted to put it out there that they do intend to return.
The news has me excited as their food has been one of my favorites in town ever since they started as a food truck back in 2017. I’ve followed them to their locations on Central, 13th street and downtown. I need their food back in my life and will be keeping a close eye on the progress.
If you have vacation photos in Jamaica you’d like to share or want to learn more about them, you can follow Sorrel’s Jamaican Food on Facebook.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
