Da Chicken Shak & More Revisited

I felt the urge for some fried food recently and wanted to show some love to a restaurant that holds a special place for me. Da Chicken Shak & More was founded and owned by the father-son duo of Chris and Tim Granger who both passed away over the past year. One of the meals on the menu was created following Tim’s passing and something I wanted to stop by and order. Let’s talk about the “Tim’s Trio”.

The Tim’s Trio, as mentioned earlier, was a special created to honor Tim Granger. For $18, it included 6 chicken tenders, 2 catfish fillets, 12 pieces of shrimp and choice of 3 sides.

It was the perfect-sized family meal deal for the four of us. Here’s what we had.

For the kids, the mac & cheese at Da Chicken Shak & More is one of their favorites around town. It was the perfect amount of creaminess that they enjoy and eat it up within seconds.

The star of the Tim’s Trio is the chicken tenders. It’s definitely up there as some of the best in town. The tenders were juicy, thick pieces of chicken with a light breading. They were fried just right, as was essentially everything else. The shrimp pieces made for light built-in appetizers for the meal and the two catfish fillets were decent-sized planks that satisfied our cravings.

It was more than enough food to fill us up over lunch; all for just $18. I’ve always been a huge fan of Da Chicken Shak & More and loved this little tribute of a meal for Tim Granger.

Here’s the menu:
