Located inside the recently opened Social Tap Drinkery is Wichita’s newest burger spot called Wheatly’s Burgers. The brand-new concept is focused on using quality ingredients like certified Angus beef, 100% hormone-free chicken, and gluten-free black bean burgers. It’s the latest addition to go inside Social Tap to go along with Sungrano Pizza who opened last month.

The menu at Wheatly’s Burgers reminded me of your classic burger stand. It was loaded with burgers, hot dogs, fries, onion rings and shakes. One of the big bonus points at Wheatly’s was the ability to create a burger exactly how you want. They had 17 toppings to choose from that were all free; there was no nickel and diming customers.
We stopped by over lunch and had two Wheatly’s Burgers which was a certified Angus beef burger on a potato bun with chopped Griddled onions, American cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato and topped with their Wheatly’s Burger sauce which was like a zesty chipotle style sauce. All burgers came with your choice of crinkle cut fries or onion rings. As a huge hot dog fan, I had to go with one of those as well.
Everything was served in a very cool to go container that had a cut little hole to sneak some fries out.
Here’s everything we had.
To be completely honest, I’m not a huge crinkle cut fan, but theirs was very crispy and seasoned well. They made for a great compliment to the burgers. If all crinkle cut fries were served like that, I’d definitely be more of a fan. Meanwhile, my daughter probably ate her weight in fries. Onion ring fans will love the big rings that had a thick crispy breading that offered a nice crunchy bite.
As for the burgers and hot dogs, Wheatly’s did a fantastic job of recreating that backyard burger feel. The toasted buns had a nice grill mark to them. The first bite was reminiscent of a classic summer cookout with family and friends, but this time you weren’t the one sweating outside over a charcoal grill.
The Wheatly’s Burger we had was a dual patty burger that was big enough to feed two people over lunch. It was loaded and the type of burger you didn’t care how much of a mess you made. And while the hot dog was simple by design, it was executed well and delicious.
And since our daughter was with us, we couldn’t leave without trying their shakes, which were hand spun with Tillamook ice cream. There were eight flavors to choose from and we had their pineapple and banana shake. Our daughter was partial to the banana, while we loved the pineapple.
Everything was quick too at Wheatly’s. So if you’re short on time, this can be a convenient lunch spot. As a Wichita State alum, it’s great to see more additions coming to campus.
Happy Dining,
Eddy
