Port of Wichita
It’s probably been 15 years since I last stepped inside, but an event brought me back to visit the Port of Wichita. They are a bar located near Harry and Webb Road. When it comes to bars, it’s not an area I frequent because it’s out of the way for me. When I found out I would be going to the Port, I was quite excited, as I love going to bars I haven’t been to in years.
To be honest, my memories of going to the Port were very hazy. I was in my early twenties and barely remember what the inside looked like. But walking back in, some memories started coming back to me.
Most of the evening was spent in these two areas either playing pool or singing karaoke.
Of course, singing karaoke for me always requires liquor….. lots of it. So much to the point, it took me over a month to write this blog to recover from my hangover.
I guess a lot has happened at the Port of Wichita over the years, including new management. I have to hand it to the staff at the Port. For how busy they were, they did an incredible job all evening. The bartenders were fantastic and I had such a great time there.
Some time was spent on their patio facing the west side of the building. Many people hung out just chatting outside of playing cornhole. The below pictures are courtesy of Brittany Fry because after a certain time of the evening, I totally forgot I even had a phone with me and didn’t bother to take any more pictures.
I loved the vibe at Port of Wichita. It was a very unassuming crowd where everybody was there to have fun. I lost count of how many shots I purchased for strangers which made for an expensive outing but hey, you only live once, right?
If you’ve never been, Port of Wichita is located at 1548 S. Webb Road. They are open seven days a week with regular hours of 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. every day except for Sunday when they are open from 2 p.m. to 12 a.m.. For more, check out their Facebook or webpage.

The Port was my hang out in the mid to late 80’s. Now I must go back for a visit!
