Most beer connoisseurs have probably heard of the Great American Beer Festival. It’s the country’s preeminent beer festival and competition. The event took place over the weekend in Denver, CO. The GABF brings visitors from around the world to sample thousands of different American craft beers. Hundreds of judges from the United States and abroad evaluate beer in the associated competition, ultimately judging several thousand beers entered by hundreds of breweries. Gold, silver and bronze medals in 100+ beer-style categories are awarded.
One local brewery, Wichita Brewing Co. took home gold this weekend. The brewery won gold in the Old Ale or Strong Ale or Barley Wine category, where there were 83 total entries. “Our Chris Barley In a Little Coat” beat out the 82 other entries and nabbed the victory for WBC.
I was told that the beer is now tapping today at both locations. It will only be available on draft for now.
Big congrats to them on the win. You can look at the list of winners here.
