When it rains, it pours. The latest closing announcement has come from Birney’s Snack Shop. It opened back in 2019 and was a locally-sourced snack shop to grab-and-go or sip-and-shop. They offered DIY toast bar, breakfast tacos, coffee, tea, beer and specialty drinks, kombucha and more.
According to owner, Janelle King, this will be the final week for Birney’s Snack Shop.
The schedule for the rest of the week will be:
Thursday 10a-5p
Friday 10a-5p (TGIF Happy Hour 2-5 with live music and half price drinks)
Saturday 10a-5p (2nd Saturday Season Blowout Artisan Market 10-4 with live music and local art)
Sunday 12-5p Sunday Funday goodbye party
Next week, they will open one day only for a special event “LOVE SHOULDN’T HURT”, on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month supporting Wichita Family Crisis Center with Rudy Love Jr. The Silent Witness Project is part of a national initiative to remember those murdered in acts of domestic violence and to bring attention to the serious consequences of violence against women.
It’s another tough blow for the community that has gone through the pandemic, shutdowns, weather, staffing shortages, product shortages, shipping issues, you name it.
If you want to stop by and show some love, Birney’s Snack Shop is located at 156 N Cleveland Ave. For more, check them out on Facebook.
