While driving around northwest Wichita, I wanted to revisit a restaurant I haven’t been to in a while. That’s when I passed by Krua Thai at 7603 W. 21st street. It’s a restaurant, I’ve only been to once when they first opened. That was all the reason I needed to pull in to the parking lot and drop in for a revisited review.

To begin my meal, I started with some papaya salad. They had two kinds, Laos or Thai style. I typically prefer the Laos style because I love the use of fermented fish and padaek which gives the salad and dressing a slightly thicker texture and bolder flavor. Krua Thai’s was great. Truth be told, I’m not sure I’ve had a bad papaya salad in town.
For my main entree, I had the Panang Curry with pork which also included was green beans, bell peppers, peanuts, coconut milk curry. My only complaint about the dish was there wasn’t much meat inside. It was mostly broth and vegetables, which necessarily wasn’t the worst because the broth was excellent. Panang Curry is probably one of my favorite kinds of curry out there. My bowl was bursting with rich and creamy flavor. The coconut milk and curry paste made for a perfect combination. It was just the warm dish I needed for the cool autumn day.
Just like my first time at Krua Thai, there weren’t many customers that day. I’m not sure if it’s because people in that area of town flock over to the very worthwhile competitors Thai House and Bann Thai; both excellent, I might add. But, if you’re up to try a different Thai spot in Wichita, it can’t hurt to see what you think of Krua Thai.
