Exotic Pets

A new pet store opened at 4488 W. Kellogg Dr. in the same strip that holds Sketchers and Guitar Center. It’s called Exotic Pets. It’s actually the second location for the locally owned pet store that can also be found at 6254 E 37th St. N.

You may have seen the new store while passing down Kellogg. The big large EXOTIC PETS sign is hard to miss. It’s been over 30 years since I last stepped into a pet store like this. I was intrigued and decided to swing on by.

Exotic Pets isn’t your typical pet store. They sell hundreds of different species of reptiles and fish. There are amphibians, scorpions, tarantulas, bugs, and much more. They also carried many rare and exotic types of fish and reptiles that I had never heard of. And to those buying the animals, they’ll probably need food and supplies. Exotic Pets has you covered there. It’s essentially a one-stop shop if you’re looking for a pet to bring home and love.

There were displays everywhere. It was very cool to browse around.

It was so cool, I actually stopped by the very next day with my daughter to show her. There were some beautiful displays out that she just adored. For about 15 minutes, I felt bad for every customer who had to endure her constantly repeating, “fishies!!!!”. But then it again, it was so cute I really didn’t feel bad at all.

True story. Two weeks before walking into Exotic Pets, I said, “We are not getting any pets for a few years.” Raising a two-year-old is tough enough. But after seeing my daughter get mesmerized by the fish, I may have quickly changed my tune.

Who knew we could be new pet owners in the near future? It’s crazy how kids can change your mind so quickly. If we do pull the trigger on some new pets, this may turn into a fish blog.
