A new dining option has arrived to Towne East Square. Sitting between JC Penny and Von Maur in the former Noodles & Co. space is Mary’s Pizza Italian Kitchen. It’s on the east-facing end of the mall and has their own entrance for the restaurant. Here’s a first look at what to expect.

What you’ll find at Mary’s Pizza is prototypical of what’s available at many mall establishments. There’s pizza by the slice, calzones, whole pizzas, wings and pasta. Everything was pretty affordable with most items in the $4-6 price range.
I took some kids to the mall and let them be my taste testers for the pizza. They all ordered a mix of pepperoni and cheese pizzas. I went with a bowl of spaghetti with four meatballs.
The kids all enjoyed their pizza. They loved how there was plenty of pepperoni to go around. It was a little on the greasy side, but that’s usually expected with most pepperoni pizzas like this. As far as mall food is concerned, this met the expectation of a decent affordable, convenient slice of pizza. The spaghetti left a little to be desired, though. The sauce didn’t exactly do it for me. It was almost too sweet for my preference. The meatballs reminded me of one you get in the freezer section of a grocery store.
I think if you keep your expectations tempered, Mary’s Pizza is your typical mall food restaurant. You go out of convenience and aren’t going for the best Italian food out there.
