New gift cards at Dillons allow you to support all local

It’s the holiday season, which means gift card time. According to MarketWatch.com, The US gift cards market size is projected to reach $312.6 billion by the end of 2021. We all buy gift cards and lately, I’ve tried to put more of a focal point on buying my share of local gift cards. Sometimes gift cards can be tough though because people are limited to shopping at just one store unless you are buying a VISA gift card….. but where’s the fun in that?

And that’s where Dillons has come in to save the day with a super cool idea that solves that problem. To kick off the holiday gift card purchasing season, they’ve launched a set of gift cards with all local love. The big selling points for the cards are they are good at multiple places around town and it’s 100% local.

There’s a theme for each gift card.

The first isĀ Wichita Local Entertainment. This gift card is good at Starlite Drive-In, The Loony Bin, Wichita Sports Forum and Aviate, The Cotillion, Wave, and Exploration Place. This covers the whole gamut of entertainment in town. There are concerts, science museums, trampoline parks, comedy venues and more.

The next is Date Night in Wichita. This gift card is good Starlite Drive-In, Hopping Gnome Brewing, Wave, Central Standard Brewing, The Loony Bin, and Angelo’s. This gift card would be great to complete a date night with dinner, drinks and a movie or concert.

Up next is Best of Brews & More. This gift card is good at Grace Hill Winery, Walnut River Brewing Company, Hopping Gnome Brewing, Central Standard Brewing, Wyldewood Cellars and PourHouse. So many people drink local, why not help support the drink local scene with this gift card?

And last, but not least, is Locals Love. This gift card is good at The Artichoke, Angelo’s, Fairmount Coffee Co., Malaysia Cafe, and Felipe’s Mexican Restaurant. Unfortunately, Noble House who joined the collaboration with Dillons has since closed. This gift card is obviously for the foodies. I’ll already be buying one of these for sure.

I’m 100% behind the idea of these gift cards. For people perusing the gift card rack at Dillons, it’s another touchpoint and additional exposure for our local food and entertainment scene. I’m totally on board with it and would much rather buy a gift card like this than a generic Visa gift card. It gives people options when obtaining one. Perhaps, I’ll buy one of each gift card and do a write-up like a date night, best of brews, eating local and a local entertainment blog.

All the gift cards are available now for purchase at Dillons and can be from any denomination from $20 to $500. If you happen to use Dillons fuel points, NOW is the best time to get them because it’s 4x fuel points on all gift card purchases. Every single bit helps right now with the cost of gas, right?

AND…there’s more. If you have the Dillons app, there’s a Save $5 coupon that’s good until November 23 on these gift card purchases. So, you’re saving $5, getting fuel points and supporting local. It’s like the holy trinity of shopping.

If you’re a restaurant or venue owner and interested in participating in their next round of gift cards, let me know and I can point you in the right direction.
