Many people noticed construction has started in the former Granite City space at 2661 N. Maize Road in NewMarket Square and curious as to what’s going on. Unless I’m told otherwise, it’s still going to be a new Cajun restaurant and sports bar called Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux from a story we broke this past February.
While the corporate site lists Wichita as a future locations site, the address listed is 2244 North Webb Rd and is incorrect as that is the Blue Hook Cajun Seafood & Bar space. Walk-On’s is confirmed, though, on NewMarket Square’s directory listing.
I’ve reached out to Walk-On’s for comment and they did confirm a Wichita location was coming in 2022, but couldn’t comment any further.
Walk-On’s gets their name from founder Brandon Landry who was a walk-on with the Louisiana State University basketball team. During his time on the team, the idea for Walk-On’s Bistreaux was born. The bar and grill with a Cajun theme is now in nine states, predominantly in the southeast part of the country.
