Continuing on with our Fast Food Breakfast Series, we visited Wendy’s. It’s our ongoing trend of comparing the fast food breakfast scene to see how they stack up against each other. For this review, we checked out their downtown locations.
I’m in the downtown area a lot, so this was a convenient location for me to drop by to get some drive-thru breakfast. How did it compare? Let’s find out.
Our breakfast order at Wendy’s consisted of:
- Baconator
- Seasoned Potatoes
- Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit
- (not pictured) Frosty-ccino
Let’s just say the Frosty-ccino didn’t make the drive home. I’m not a huge cold brew fan but found this mix of cold brew and a Vanilla Frosty to be quite delicious; and not overly sweet.
The chicken biscuit was a little on the hard side and dry. We weren’t too crazy about the seasoned potatoes either which were also dry and more on the bland side.
At that point, my visit to Wendy’s for breakfast was starting to be a huge downer.
BUT….. the Baconator saved the day. It was probably the breakfast sandwich I’ve had from a fast food restaurant. If you’re into eating healthy, grab an avocado toast and move on. This sandwich featured grilled sausage, American cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, a fresh-cracked grade A egg, more cheese and more bacon all covered in Swiss cheese sauce. It was one of those unhealthy guilty pleasures that made you question whether diets are even worth it.
If everything was as good as the Baconator, I’d be there all the time. That was easily the saving grace for what was, for the most part, a very lackluster breakfast.
Aside from the Baconator, what are your favorite at Wendy’s?
Happy Dining,
Eddy
