A trip to McPherson for Ristorante Italiano di Famiglia

While in McPherson, KS, I wanted to grab a couple of light lunches to get a taste of what the city had to offer. One of the restaurants high on my list to try was Ristorante Italiano di Famiglia. They are located right on Main Street and a popular hangout spot for those craving Italian food.

I dropped in over the lunch hour and like many other restaurants on Main Street, they were busy. It was cool to see their restaurants get so much support from the locals.

My lunch started with some complimentary bread and oil, which packed a flavorful bit of heat that I really enjoyed. The pillow-soft bread was fantastic as well.

After looking through their lunch menu, I asked my server for suggestions. She said their meat lasagna was a popular choice and homemade, so I went with that along with a Caesar salad. There wasn’t anything over the top about the salad; it was simple and tasty.

Meanwhile, the lasagna was another simple yet well-executed meal. Italian dishes can be quite heavy and lead to major nap cravings. Their portion size for the lunch hour was the perfect amount. The noodles were probably my favorite part. They were firm yet easy to cut into, and the texture wasn’t the overly soggy type you see at some other places. I wouldn’t say the lasagna was stuffed with tons of meat, but it was satisfying enough for the lunch hour.

If I had to choose the best part about Ristorante Italiano di Famiglia, it was probably the service. Don’t get me wrong, the food was fantastic, but my server rounded out the whole experience. I didn’t catch her name, but my ticket said it was Tiki. She was very friendly, accommodating and had an infectious delightful attitude. I saw her going over to other tables and going above and beyond for customers. It’s people like her that making this food blogging journey a fun one.

Happy Dining,
