Thai Village, where a papaya salad should be a requirement of every visit

Let’s spread some love to southeast Wichita. There’s a stretch of south Rock Road that has some delicious international eats to choose from. One of them is Thai Village: House of Pad Thai. It’s been a few years since I last stopped by and I believe they’ve had a change in ownership over that time.

I was in the mood for a soup and salad that afternoon and opted to go for my favorite combo. I went with their Laotian-style papaya salad and a Tom Yum soup with chicken.

Their papaya salads should be included on any visit. Theirs was bold, spicy, yet toned down a bit by the lemon juice. The pork rinds added a crunchy texture if you choose to include it. Everything was great from the presentation to the flavor. And their soup truly hit the spot for the cold afternoon. There was so much going on in every spoonful. It was sour, salty, sweet and tasty. The soup seemed like it hit all the senses. It might be one of the most underrated soups in the soup world.

I didn’t go all crazy at Thai Village with my order as I was looking for a fairly basic meal, but definitely need to next time. Their menu had some new items since my last visit that I need to try.

One thing I noticed was the restaurant was completely empty during my visit. The service was great, the food was delicious, and I didn’t notice any reason why they shouldn’t be busier. Give them a try at least once to see what you think.

Here’s their menu:

Happy Dining,
