The former Jet Bar-B-Q Restaurant has sat vacant for many years, and soon BBQ will be returning to the former converted fire station. Station 8 will celebrate their grand opening on Wednesday, March 2 when owner Alex Eftekhar opens the doors at 1100 E. 3rd St.
It’s been a long time coming for the restaurant that originally planned to open in 2021. After many delays, Eftekhar is ready to start serving his BBQ in the 4,500 square foot space. Renovations are complete, and the last thing needed to finalize everything would be the diners.
To start, hours will be from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. or sold out on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It will just be those three days for lunch.
The BBQ will be smoked overnight every night, so it’s fresh until sold out each day. I was told all sides are scratch made. For example, the beans soak every night, mac is made from smoked Gouda and smoked cheddar. Station 8 will also have a cool selection of glass soda bottles as well. It will be quick service. Getting in line similar to how you would at Chipotle.
I’m pretty excited for this one. Station 8 had a pop-up event last year. I stopped by and really enjoyed the food and can’t wait to see what else they can do.
The prices for the meats are half pound and full pound. Homemade white bread, onions pickles and sauce will come with any meat order. Ribs are served half rack and full rack. Eftekhar said he will be talking everyone through things and serving the food himself on the line.
Stay tuned for our first look at Station 8 when they open.
