Let’s review It’s Just Wings!
It’s Just Wings is an American delivery-only fast-food restaurant chain that was launched by Brinker International Inc. Available through Chili’s and Maggiano’s restaurants, It’s Just Wings uses those facilities and the company’s partnership with DoorDash to sell chicken wings, curly fries and more. This review was requested by many readers, so here you go.
This style of business has grown immensely over the past couple of years. They are called anything from dark kitchens to ghost kitchens to cloud kitchens. Either a restaurant will show up on a delivery app under an additional name to have multiple concepts listed (i.e. Chuck E. Cheese and Pasqually’s Pizza & Wings) or they’re kitchen and employees are outsourced to make a separate business’ food, which was the case here.
It’s Just Wings is one of the largest ones out there. In Wichita, it’s available through DoorDash and prepared at the Chili’s.
There were multiple wing options to choose from. Eventually, I went with a 16 bone-in wings meal. For the sauces, I went with Spicy Pineapple Teriyaki and Southwest Cajun Dry Rub. The combo which included fries was $18.
So, about the wings. The size was reminiscent of what you’d find at Buffalo Wild Wings. Not the biggest wings you’ll find, but I suppose with the current shortage we have, I’ll take anything.
The sauces were decent. I enjoyed the spicy pineapple teriyaki, which had a medium level of heat. The dry rub was supposed to be hot, but I found it to be very mild. Some wings were meatier than others; not much consistency there. My biggest complaint was how tough some wings were. Inconsistent wings seemed to be the main factor. I had zero issues with the fries. They might have been the best part; crispy and well-seasoned.
There wasn’t a lasting impression on the meal as a whole. I had about the same satisfaction from It’s Just Wings as I do from other national places like Buffalo Wild Wings or Wingstop.
Have you tried them?
Happy Dining,
Eddy
