Grow is set to be the coolest plant shop with their move to downtown Wichita

Something cool is sprouting in downtown Wichita. GROW Giesen Plant Shop is making their way to the ground floor of Fidelity Bank’s new RISE Car Park, which is at the northeast corner of Waterman and Market.

It’s been an incredible journey for owner, Heather Giesen, who started her business in June of 2019 in their backyard. The growth continued as what was originally supposed to be a hobby greenhouse turned into a full-fledged business.

Giesen eventually moved from her own backyard to a retail incubator space at The Workroom at 150 N Cleveland, where you can currently find them. It offered the city chic vibe that you couldn’t find at other plant shops. It was at this point, Giesen quit her full-time job and went all in on GROW.

And nearly two years later, Giesen is ready to hit an even bigger stage with more grandiose ideas.

With the move to Fidelity Bank’s new RISE Car Park, Giesen is adding things Wichita has never seen at a plant shop. She is bringing a whole new level of experiences to GROW that can reach all customers, even someone like myself who is taken to plant shops by my better half and just walks around while I play on my phone.

Part one is the bar experience. BOTANIC at GROW, will serve botanical cocktails, martinis, bottles of wine and champagne, beer, martini flights (Yes, flights of martinis!!!!), and a curated Sober-licious menu for the sober crowd. Food will also be available for customers.

Part two is the hands-on interactive side where there will be a DIY Plant Bar-Constant creation. You will be able to come in and build cacti/succulent terrariums, or airplant/foliage terrariums in our various glass vessels. You can also come and make arrangements by picking out one of their pots and sitting at the DIY table to create. GROW also will have rotating projects such as succulent wreaths, staghorn fern mounts, moss picture frames, moss poles, succulent pumpkin arrangements, and Christmas wreaths. Basically, you dream it and they will do their best to help you make it happen.

Part three is the lounge. The lounge is for overflow from the bar. It will have an eclectic mix of seating, some retail, and just a cool vibe. This space will be used for local artist and business popups. It will be where they hold classes like their twice a month free Plant Parenthood class, Plant parent support group, guest teachers, other plant classes. This space can also be rented out for birthday parties, bachelorette parties, bridal showers, etc.

And of course part four is the plant shop. They will have a much larger selection of all things plants.

Stay tuned. Big things are coming, not just for GROW, but for Wichita. It’s crazy to go from a backyard to a 500 sq. ft. space to, 3200 in a matter of three years.

We’ll be sharing a closer look as opening date approaches, which looks to be a month away. For more, check out their website or follow them on Facebook.
