In a city full of restaurants, it’s not hard to forget about some restaurants. For me, one of those places I really enjoy but don’t make it out to enough is Cafe Bel Ami. I remember walking into the restaurant for my first time over ten years ago and really enjoying it. Then I forgot about it, revisited the restaurant like four years later, really enjoyed it and once again forgot about it.
Cafe Bel Ami is one of the restaurants I think was a snub on the ICT 100. It’s underappreciated, even by yours truly, and hopefully this blog can be a reminder for me to not let that happen again.

The decor really hasn’t changed much over the years, but this review is all about the food.
The menu features French Mediterranean cuisine.
They are also home to what, I believe, is the best Caesar salad on this side of Mississippi. Their house made dressing, fresh greens and anchovies made for a creamy, light, delicious start to any meal. There have been times I’ve gone up specifically for the salad and called it a day.
For my main course, I had the shrimp scampi, which was another tasty dish to complete my lunch at Cafe Bel Ami. What sold me was the garlic lemony creme sauce, which gave it a zestful flavor. It didn’t feel as heavy as many other pasta dishes. The portion size was perfect over lunch, and I didn’t walk out feeling like I ate my weight in linguine pasta.
All in all, this was a solid lunch that left me beyond delighted and satisfied. The service was fantastic and I was happy to see the restaurant packed with plenty of customers over lunchtime.
