A much-needed road trip in order and we made a spur of the moment decision to drive to Ark City. While on the way, we researched different restaurants and came across Burger Junkie. In past Kansas road trips, burgers have typically done us well, so this was a no-brainer for us.

Even though Burger Junkie has only been around since 2017, I would have thought it was longer just by the reviews and the feel. License plates lined the walls while classic diner decor including a big jukebox was on display inside.
We went with burgers and fries. I have much respect for a place that really piles on the fries, not just any fries, but delicious well-seasoned, cooked to perfection style of fries. They were great; crispy exterior with a pillowy interior.
But even better was the burger. After the first bite, I knew I was going to enjoy it. Even after Megan took her first bite, she goes, “Yeah, that’s a good burger!” The bun played it’s part in adding to the experience, the condiments weren’t overdone, and the focal point was the patty itself. Perhaps, I should have gone with the double, but this was satisfying enough.
Driving an hour for a burger doesn’t make a lot of sense. But to me, driving anywhere for that brief lunchtime bliss to know you really enjoyed your food was worth it.
