When First Mile Kitchen opened, we had only stopped by for breakfast and lunch, but heard many rave reviews about the dinner experience. Since we were celebrating a birthday, First Mile Kitchen sounded like a great option for a place to commemorate the day.

It was cool to finally see a live-fire hearth in action. As someone who’s slowly learning the ropes of grilling, it was just fun to see them do their thing cooking away.
We started our dinner with a couple of cocktails. We had the H.Y.F.R. which was made with blanco tequila, jalapeno, watermelon and black salt. Not only that, but we also had the Harvey Danger which was vodka, blood orange, herbal liquer, and orange blossom.
Nearly anytime I see tartare of any sort on a menu, it’s a must for me, so we had to get that. I did a horrible job with the picture as the house fingerling chips covered the deliciousness, but this was a phenomenal starter. I loved the texture and flavor. This could have easily been something I could order ten more of and eat for dinner.
We decided to split an entree and a side of lemon and rosemary potatoes.
Our main entree was a beef short rib special….. now that was a special way to end our meal. It came with a glaze and some sort of puree that the server told us, but can’t remember. Whatever it was paired perfectly with the beef short rib. It was tender, meaty and delicious. I loved the char on the outside that gave it some texture.
Between the tartare and the beef short rib, that was an excellent way to celebrate.
