Ever since news came out about Sbarro coming back to Wichita, people have been wondering if those plans are still a go. In the original press release from Sbarro, they mentioned they were planning for 5 locations in Wichita. At that time, they were aiming for a March/April opening. But like any restaurant opening, delays are quite common.
So, here we are in May with no Sbarro locations. I reached out to my contacts there, who have not responded to any inquiries. Instead, I reached out to Kwik Shop to see if they could shed some more light.
The first Sbarro location looks to be at 4802 E. 21st St N. That store is nearly complete and I was told, it could be until the end of the month, if not early June. The northwest Kwik Shop, at 3750 N. Maize Road, just started construction and it likely 2-3 months out. Those were the only two I could get timeframes on, but rest assured the other locations are still in the works.
Here are all the Sbarro’s planned for Wichita (and Salina).
- 514 S. Oliver Street
- 4811 S. Seneca St.
- 3750 N. Maize Rd.
- 135 and 21st St
- 4802 E. 21St N
- 1727 W. Crawford St. (Salina)

Any updates on the openings?
Any update on the Maize road location? It’s been done for at least a month or more.
