Day one of the food court for the Wichita River Festival has arrived. I freed my calendar for lunch time on Friday, and made my way downtown to get a quick bite and just browse around.
Remember, the festival kicked off today and runs until June 11. Like past years, you can purchase food and drinks from vendors using tickets sold at the ticket booths. Cash is available from Fidelity Bank ATMs. While you’ll typically need a button to enter, you don’t need a button during the lunch hour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. So, if you’re like me, this was the perfect time to stop by.
It was nice to see some vendors put samples of their food out on display to see what was what and how big each portion was.
If you’re thirsty, Bar On Demand is also there to serve you drinks…. on demand.
I was joined by local food blogger, Fert the Foodie. He went for the turkey leg from Texas Reds. The picture does not do the turkey leg justice. Next time, I’ll have my two-year-old hold the turkey leg to give you a better idea.
I went with the classic chicken on a stick from Chan’s Chicken. It’s always a safe go-to when visiting any festival or fair. As usual, it was incredibly tasty and a nice treat to walk with. Contrary to popular belief, I didn’t have to take a second mortgage out on my house.
I’ll definitely be returning with my family over the next week to check out more of the fun festivities and, of course, get more food.
