A traveling popup business from Los Angeles called Vuture Food was in town for just one day in Wichita at Central Standard Brewing. The reviews have been wonderful for the business specializing in Vegan food like chicken sandwiches.
I’m for all sorts of food even though I’m not Vegan, so I had to give them a try. Similar popups have taken place at CSB and I was told they brought big crowds. I made sure to show up right at opening and placed an order for the Mango Habanero Chik’n Sandwich along with some Buffalo Chik’n Fries. I was once again joined by Fert the Foodie who had the Spicy Bleu Cheese Chik’n Sandwich
Everything came out in a timely manner.
Seriously, I’ve had my share of Vegan food and this was some of the best I’ve ever had. Fert loved his sandwich and thought the Bleu cheese that came with it was outstanding and only enhanced his sandwich.
Meanwhile, my Mango Habanero Chik’n Sandwich was a messy, but tasty dish. It was so filling that I barely had any room for the fries. It had a nice bit of sweet heat thanks to the habanero sauce. The chik’n alone was a hefty piece that I probably could have shared with another person. At times, I didn’t even realize I was eating Vegan food. The tagline should have been, “I can’t believe it’s not chicken.”
Big props to Vuture Food. I’ve had my share of less than stellar Vegan food, and they just proved that it can be done right. It’s too bad they are only here for one night as they’re on their way to Oklahoma tomorrow. If they are ever in Wichita again, be sure to check them out.
