A restaurant has taken over the former LeDesma’s Restaurant that closed at the end of 2021. Introducing El Chapulin Mexican Grill. Chapulin translates to grasshopper in English, but there are no grasshoppers to be found on the menu, unless you count a picture of one.
El Chapulin is almost a nod to the LeDesma’s as they are open in the morning and have a full breakfast menu.

I made a brief stop to get a glimpse of what they had. My meal started off with some complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was probably the hottest complimentary salsa I’ve had from any restaurant in town. It wasn’t overbearing, but provided lots of heat.
After that, I went with an order of five tacos. I had the pork bistek, longaniza, buche, tripe, and al pastor. Everything came out quick, but how do I put this nicely….
I’ve had better tacos….. everywhere else. There was just something about the tacos that didn’t sit well with my taste buds. Most items like the buche, tripe and even the loganiza had this spongy, undercooked, pungent flavor to them. There wasn’t one taco that stood out as, “Hey, this is the best”…. maybe the al pastor. If so, that was by default.
Overall, the visit was quite underwhelming and I had an off taste in my mouth the rest of the afternoon. Needless to say, it left a lasting impression, but not the type I was hoping for. If I go back, I’ll check out the breakfast instead.
Here’s the menu:
Happy Dining,
