This isn’t your grandmother’s plant shop. GROW had their ticketed grand opening event over the weekend and will officially open their doors to the public on Thursday, June 23.
It’s going to be the trendiest plant shop you’ll find in Wichita that serves as a retail space along with a cocktail lounge called Botanic at GROW.
GROW is located on the ground floor of Fidelity Bank’s new RISE Car Park at 320 S Market St., which is at the northeast corner of Waterman and Market. The plant shop originally started in owner, Heather Geisen’s backyard in 2019 and eventually moved to the retail incubator space at The Workroom at 150 N Cleveland.
The new GROW space is all about the experience. As someone who gets taken to many plant shops, as I’m sure many other spouses and significant others do, I find them all to be dull, sometimes intimidating and all the same. GROW is unlike anything I’ve been to and will glady hop in the car when I’m told, “Eddy, it’s time to go get some more plants for the house.”
The first thing you see is Botanic at Grow, which is their cocktail lounge.
There you will find a huge assortment of martinis, cocktails, wine, beer, and even a sober-licious menu for those who don’t drink alcohol. Let me tell you, they make a great spicy bloody mary. I also had some of their sober-licious offerings, but selfishly asked for alcohol in them. The bartenders did a fantastic job; I really enjoyed everything I had to drink.
Here’s their menu:
Next up is their retail space which has everything you need from plants, pots, accessories, plant food, and more. There’s also rocks, jewelry, and a ton more to look at. This was not my area of expertise, so I went back to Botanic for another drink.
For the Do-It-Yourselfer, there’s a DIY Bar if you want to design your own terrarium. You get to choose the vase, plant, and put it all together how you’d like. The price all depends on what you decide to add inside.
And lastly, there’s the lounge area available for rent. You can use it for parties and events. One of my friends is having her baby shower there soon. Maybe I’ll tag along and cover it.
Once they open, Grow’s hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday and closed on Monday.
