African food finally coming back to Wichita when Bchic Bar & Grill opens

One cuisine that’s been absent from Wichita’s food scene is African food spanning various countries. That’s all going to change when Bchic Bar & Grill opens in the former Sam’s Southern Eatery space at 6600 W. Central.

I spoke to one of the owners and she’s hoping to have the restaurant open by the end of the week, if not, by next week.

Bchic Bar & Grill will serve dishes from many regions of Africa. Appetizers will include a mini suya platter, grilled bacon wrapped shrimp, and samosas. There will be an assortment of salads and pepper soup. I’m excited for many of the entrees that can’t be found in Wichita such as Kati Kati, Poulet DG, Injera, Pondu, Jollof, and Eru. Goat and lamb kebabs are also on the menu as are such breads like Madazi, Puff Puff and Vitumbuwa.

Family meals will be available  that include two meats, two veggies, two sides and one dessert choice; perfect for large groups. Kids meals, vegan and vegetarian-friendly dishes are on-hand to make the restaurant more inclusive for everyone. Dishes can also be customized to different spice levels.

This is a big get for Wichita’s dining scene and one many people have been clamoring for.

Alcohol won’t be available yet when they open, but will once their license gets approved. When I hear a firm opening date from Bchic Bar & Grill, I’ll be sure to pass it on. Otherwise, you can bet I’ll be there for a first look in the near future.

Happy Dining,
Eddy
