When it comes to Wichita restaurants, one of the most polarizing and talked about places for best burgers, hole-in-the-wall, south side spots or even bucket list foodie places is Bomber Burger. Anybody who’s been there has formed a strong opinion of what they think and if they’ll return. For me, there’s no doubt I’ll always go back. I always leave my feelings at the door, step inside and get my appetite ready for what’s to come.

I had a meeting of the minds with a couple of others, and while some people may go to a downtown restaurant or coffee shop, we decided on Bomber Burger.
Despite their 800-square foot space, we were able to find a table to seat the three of us. For the other two, it was their first time, and there’s nothing I love more than helping people discover different eats around town.
Bomber Burger’s old grill and three-quarter pound burgers are always one of the first things people ooh and ahh at upon arrival. We ordered the single, double, and triple patty burgers between the three of us…. and fries because fries are a necessity for burgers.
For a burger of that size, it’s hard to do it right, but owner, Chris Rickard, is a magician at the grill. If you love random, sometimes profane jokes, and a perfectly cooked burger, this is the place to go. I love big, thick, juicy burgers and there’s no place in Wichita that does it quite like Bomber Burger.
I’ve said it before but I might as well say it again. Bomber Burger is not for the easily offended. Many people who walk into Bomber Burger will often talk about the owner and his brash sense of humor. Stuff like that doesn’t bother me at all. I really think behind that tough exterior is a man who is quite caring and has proven to be a generous individual.
