Family Fun Series: Red-Ruffed Lemur Meet & Greet at Tanganyika Wildlife Park

Tanganyika Wildlife Park:
Red-Ruffed Lemur Meet & Greet

Our friends and I were at Tanganyika Wildlife Park for a birthday. One of the things, we thought would be fun for them was an experience upgrade.

On Tanganyika’s website, they had many opportunities such as an otter lover’s experience, swim with the penguins, meet the pygmy hippo, and multiple meet and greets.

We decided on the Red-Ruffed Lemur meet and greet. This was advertised as an activity for kids 3+ which was right up my daughter’s alley. The description is as follows:

The most action packed meet and greet! Emerald is a young red ruffed lemur in the early stages of training and she needs your help to learn her manners! Since this experience is brand new it may or may not include the following activities: getting to touch her fur, feeding her, observing her and her trainers work together, posing for photos, or helping her learn new behaviors.

Our day started at the VIP Lounge, then we walked over to visit some of the other lemurs.

This included a stop by Lemur Island, which is a must for anybody visiting Tanganyika Wildlife Park.

Each of the kids got to feed the lemurs and try their best to get a decent picture with a lemur and group of kids looking at the camera at the same time.

Throughout our time, our guide told us many facts about lemurs, answered all questions and did a great time of making sure everyone was engaged.

Then we made our way to see all red-ruffed lemurs. They were able to touch them, feed them, tickle them under the arms, and watch them get trained. The kids thoroughly enjoyed this portion of the day.

It was a great way to learn about one of the kids favorite animals at the park and get the kids outside for about an hour doing something different.

Tanganyika Wildlife Park is located at 1000 S Hawkins Ln in Goddard, KS. To learn more about the experiences, visit their webpage.
