Two restaurant closing announcements in the past two weeks

Time to get everyone caught up to speed on what’s changed in the past two weeks for our local dining scene.

The Mexican restaurant, La Zacatecana, located at 1710 S. West Street, has closed down. They originally opened in 2020.

It’s located on a stretch of West Street, south of Kellogg, that is a desert when it comes to locally owned restaurants.

Those looking for quick-service late night Mexican food may not have to wait much longer, though, as a Rene’s should be opening in the near future at Pawnee and West Street.

Smokehouse ICT

Next up is SmokeHouse ICT, who just opened their brick & mortar restaurant earlier this year. The BBQ spot originally started as a food truck before taking over the former Kiko’s space at 2800 E. Central.

They cited business and personal reasons for shutting doors, which took place today. SmokeHouse ICT will be open in a catering capacity, though, so they are definitely someone to consider if you’re needing that service. If you would like to discuss catering for your business or party, you may call them at 316-250-7598, email chris@smokehouseict.com, or even order online at their website www.smokehouseict.com.

Should we hear any updates on SmokeHouse ICT, we will be sure to pass that along.
