What to expect at Flowers Baking Co: Discount Bakery Store

Have you ever heard of the Discount Bakery Store owned by Flowers Baking Co.? It’s a little grocery store close near Harry & Meridian that sells bread, buns, rolls, snack cakes, pastries, and tortillas at discounted prices.

The stores are owned by Flower Foods which produces and markets all the packed bakery goods. It’s part of their direct store delivery segment, where they can sell directly to the customer through their distributors.

Flower Foods owns such bakery and food brands as Ideal Baking Company, ButterKrust Bakery, Leo’s Foods, Royal Cake Company, Tastykake, Wonder Bread and many of the Hostess bakeries.

You can purchase nearly all of these brands at their discount bakery store and great prices. I stopped by recently to check out the store. It brought back many memories of when my mother used to take me to an old Hostess store on east Lincoln, where we purchased tons of snack cakes for cheap.

Nearly everything in the store is $1.50 or less. Loaves of bread are always under $1, snack cakes such as donuts, cinnamon rolls, and other pre-packaged pastries are all under one dollar as well.

I’ve stopped by before when looking for cheap snacks to distribute out for events and such.

This isn’t so much of a review as it is a, “Hey, have you ever heard of this place? It’s pretty cool.”
