Metro Grill and Wichita Cheesecake Co. Revisited

Wichita Cheesecake Co. Metro Grill

We were downtown, hungry, and looking for food. Since we were at Union Station in downtown Wichita, I suggested we go check out Metro Grill, located inside Wichita Cheesecake Co.  Nobody else in my group had been there, so this was the perfect opportunity for everyone to try something new.

Metro Grill has a long history in Wichita, with many previous locations. The original owner is now sub-leasing space inside Wichita Cheesecake Co. to serve many of his popular sandwiches. When we arrived, many of the people with me recognized the original owner from his Towne East and west side location.

We ordered our food and I made sure to get some cheesecake while I waited.

It never hurts to eat dessert first, and the pumpkin cheesecake was a fantastic dessert turned appetizer.

For dinner, we had the Cuban, Cuban Steak and Italian Chicken sandwiches. It was my first time back and I noticed Metro Grill expanded their menu AND lowered prices. That’s something you don’t see often happen when many other places are raising prices.

I had the Cuban on my first visit and ate half of one on this visit. Still, one of the best Cubans I’ve had in Wichita. Everything from the bread, roasted pork, cheese, pickles, mustard, ham, and peppers made this a beautiful and yummy sandwich. It is easily a top ten sandwich in town.

I also split the Cuban steak, which was also incredible. The others had the Italian Chicken. Every one was raving about the food and made sure to give the compliments directly to the staff. There’s a level of quality in their sandwiches which you could tell was made with fresh ingredients.

Having Metro Grill is a true blessing for our local dining scene. And to have that paired with Wichita Cheesecake Co.’s cheesecake makes this one of the best 1-2 punches in the ICT.

Add this to your list of places to go.
