Beloved Gingerbread Village Event Returns to Exploration Place

Many holiday traditions are starting to return for the first time since 2019. One of the city’s favorites, Gingerbread Village, is back in person at Exploration Place.

The event, which is a partnership between Exploration Place and the Assistance League of Wichita, will take place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 12 and 13.

The cost is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $10 for children and $6 for Exploration Place members. Gingerbread Village tickets also include access to the Exploration Place exhibits for the day.

New in 2022 is the ability to buy tickets for a specific time slot at Tickets are also available each day at the front desk.

Gingerbread Village guests will receive a gingerbread house kit for each person. Each kit contains precut graham cracker pieces, icing and an array of candy for guests to use as they strategize, engineer, craft and build the ultimate sweet escape.

I built one at home last Christmas with my daughter but she didn’t have a clue what was going on. Now that she’s a year wiser and starting to grasp the holiday fun along with arts and crafts time, I can’t wait to bring her and let her unleash the messy creativity.

While at Gingerbread Village, visitors can also shop at the bake sale. Another new option for 2022 is the option to reserve a room to avoid the hustle and bustle and have a private experience for your party. Two rooms that can accommodate 30 guests are available for rental. To reserve your private decorating room, call 316-660-0600 and ask for Sydney.
