Even though the Delano St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been discontinued but a new one has started, that doesn’t mean all the fun in Wichita has to end. The Wichita Wagonmasters, who put on the biggest event food event in town with the downtown chili cook off, have announced they are going to start a new tradition with their First Annual Wagon O’Masters Paddy Party.
The event starts at noon on Saturday, March 11. It will be located at Naftzger Park and much of the area around Naftzger will also be closed off for the party, similar to the chili cook off.
Speaking to one of the Wagonmasters Rey Silva, he said, “We saw an opportunity to throw another big party (like the Chili Cook-off) that will help support how we give back to the community through our Good-Life grants.”
Details are still being finalized for the Wagon O’Masters Paddy Party, but here’s what we know.
There will be a big Blarney Beer Garden, food and drink, a Gaelic Grill with burgers, brats and hot dogs. DJ Carbon will be DJ’ing the event, live music will be provided by the premier Irish and folk rock band, The Sassanachs, and of course, every St. Patrick’s Day party needs ceremonial bagpipes to kick off the event.
A 50/50 raffle, games and more will be announced in the coming weeks.
Justin Baxter with the Wagonmasters also noted, “”We’ve seen other cities throw a St. Paddy’s celebration and felt like Wichita was deserving of one of its own. We hope to do a few things with this event, to host a fun, safe party for Wichita and to bring awareness to our Good Life Grants which serve dozens of local charities annually.”
Established in 2012 by the Wichita Wagonmasters, the Good Life Grants are committed to benefiting the quality of life for people in the Wichita area. The fund serves a wide range of projects enabling more people to enjoy the good life and to promote the idea Wichita is a great place to live, work and play.
Stay tuned for more.
